Mitchell's Collection of Extremely Rare Lugers

Found in Europe, brought to the U.S. by Mitchell, this collection of mainly rare, one-of-a-kind, Lugers is now released to the American collector! The German Luger is one of the most famous, most recognized silhouettes in firearms history.

Each Luger pistol comes in a specially made presentation case!

German Luger Model P-08, Serial No. 6118f
This fine specimen in excellent condition is a special “Treaty of Versailles” model and was produced by the famous DWM factory, one of Germany’s premier factories.  Germany was under severe restrictions regarding military armaments, even small arms. However, under treaty provisions they were permitted to repair, replace or overhaul existing small arms. Therefore all Treaty Lugers show two dates along with the manufacturer's imprint. This specimen shows that it was produced in 1918 (the year WWI ended) and was overhauled in 1920. This Luger has new checked walnut grips and has a matching magazine.  Overall appearance is excellent with matching numbers throughout! Shown in its presentation case, this Luger is a thing of beauty.

DWM proof marked.  $6,000.00

German Luger Model P-08, Serial No. 3209u

This commercially produced “Banner” model has the Nazi-Police proof mark.  Intended originally as a commercial Luger, this one was taken for use by Nazi-Police in 1939. This Luger was produced by the Mauser factory and shows the Mauser Banner. WWII started in 1939 by the Nazi invasion of Poland, followed three days later by a declaration of war by England and France against Germany. The year date, 1939 on this Luger has special collector value in that it was made by Mauser at the start of WWII! It also has an early Mauser proof mark on the left side of the barrel extension.  All matching numbers as appropriate are on all parts.  A rare gem with the Mauser Banner logo on the toggle link.

$10,000.00

German Luger Model P-08, Serial No. 6000g
Produced in 1936 by the Mauser factory, this beautiful Luger was made during the secret period of rearmament of German military forces. Germany ignored the Treaty of Versailles and three years after this Luger was produced, World War II started. Beautiful bluing, excellent bore, with German “nitro” commercial proof mark only begins to describe this Luger with its unique serial number.  Matching numbers on all parts.  The S/42 designator on the toggle link is the Nazi code in 1936 for the Mauser factory.

German Luger Model P-08, Serial No. 1300
This is a WWI Luger produced by DWM, the noted German arms maker located in Berlin.  The condition is excellent overall.  It was manufactured in 1915, perhaps at the height of World War I.  Rifling in the barrel has sharp lands and grooves with bright lands and deep grooves.  There is some age-related light frosting in the grooves with no effect on performance in this fine specimen. This specimen will soon be 100 years old! It is as good today as it was when it was made in 1915. It was made by DWM, at the time DWM was one of the finest gun makers in the world. This is one of the few remaining "WWI" Lugers available today.

$7,000.00

German Luger Model P-08, Serial No. 6507

Three times more interesting! Originally made during WWI in 1918, the last year of the war. The second year date, 1920, was the year of re-manufacture under the strict conditions of the Treaty of Versailles. Then again in the Nazi era, this Luger was rebuilt at the Mauser factory, where it was coded "42" by the German military, intended to conceal the actual factory.

Condition of this unit is good, using NRA standards of description. Bluing is fading slowly to a matted patina finish. Straw colored parts are excellent. The bore has sharp lands and grooves. There is age related light frosting in the grooves having no effect on performance or appearance. This Treaty of Versailles model is a rare collectors gem. A rare Luger, one of the last ones available anywhere in the world.
